P4: Produce a plan for the structure and content of an original radio programme
Below I have attached the brief that I have chosen to go with.
Proposal
Name of programme:
Saturday Subjects
Length of programme:
30 Minutes
Genre:
Lifestyle Show
Synopsis:
A lifestyle talk show with a debate section regarding the topic of abortion rights and whether politicians should have the right to pass laws regarding it. It will feature contributors who are both for and against abortion as well as a neutral presenter to carry the conversation and ask questions. The show will include a segment where a listener(s) can call in and ask questions or give their opinion on the matter. There will be music breaks and jingles throughout the show.
Distribution:
The radio show will be distributed through internet broadcasting as it is readily available to me, the producer. It is also within my financial and technical capability.
Target Audience:
The target audience for this radio show will be 18-25 year olds as the topic is quite serious and requires a certain level of maturity so I think the minimum age required to listen to the show is roughly 18. However due to the fact that both the presenter and contributors are all in their teens, the show wont be appealing to much older people so the target audience age will end at 25 years old. I will also target the ABC1 demographic as the subject and delivery are both very serious which is more likely to attract more educated people who tend to fall in the ABC1 demographic.
Presenter:
I will be the neutral presenter as I believe I have the necessary conversational and inter-relational skills required to lead a debate and talk show which is described in the brief.
Guests:
I will include 3 contributors. They will be made up of two guests who will be in the studio with me, the presenter. These guests will both have opposing views, one for abortion and the other against. This is because I am required through the brief to have a debate segment and I think the debate segment will be much more effective with guests of opposing views. I will also feature one call in contributor who will have an undetermined position on the matter and will be able to interact with both the presenter and the guests.
Equipment:
In order to create this radio show I will need three microphones, three microphone stands, three pop shields. I will also need a mixing board in order to connect the microphones to the computer.
Resources:
I will require a computer that can connect to the mixing board as well as audacity to capture the sound.

Pre-production materials.
Below I have attached my risk assessment.
Below I have attached my budget sheet.
Below I have attached my gantt chart.
Lastly I have attached a programme clock which will keep me from going over time on various different segments during my show. As we are limited to 30 minutes for the whole radio show, I have to ensure that the show is carefully structured to fulfil the brief criteria as well as to not run overtime.
