P5: Record an extract of the planned radio programme
Below I have attached images of me and my guests inside the studio during the recording of our radio programme. I have also attached images of the equipment we were using.
Below is my finished radio programme.
Below I have attached a 5 minute extract of my radio programme which contains various conventions.
I used many different conventions in order to make my radio programme sound familiar to the target audience and to apply itself to the brief which was given to me. One of the conventions which I used in the clip above is the use of a music break. By including a music break I was able to let the listeners relax after a long winded conversation between the two guests on the show. This lets everyone gather their thoughts. It was also useful for me behind the scenes on the production of the radio programme as I was able to use the break to chat with my guests in order to prepare them for what's coming next as well as to organise my own production plan.
I also used the convention of a call-in in this clip. This makes the radio programme seem more interactive and personal to the listeners who are tuning into the programme. This was one of many conventions which I found in existing radio shows such as "Woman's Hour" or "Gardeners Tips". By allowing people to call-in I am also building a listener base and a community as the listeners will feel as though their opinions matter as well as the ones they hear on the air. By interacting with listeners they are more likely to remember the radio show and tune in again. By limiting the call-ins but still including them I also encourage the audience to tune in again so that if they didn't get to call in this time maybe next time they will.
